On April 19th, 2008 I attended Chico State's 26th Eco Festival on campus of CSU Chico. The festival took place from noon until 6 pm. I arrived at around twelve-thirty and there were already a bunch of people there. They had music and dancing. The Eco Fest is a music festival that celebrates Earth Month. While I was there two different music and dance performances occurred. They were fun to watch and I enjoyed it very much. There were many booths set up at the festival. The one that stood out to me was tie die booth. People were making tie-die shirts and other tie die articles. There were a lot of local green businesses that attended the event. There were posters set up that had different college universities and what they are doing to try to better the environment. The posters also compared what that university was doing to help the environment compared to Chico State. These were all very interesting to read because many college campuses are doing a lot and have many different programs set up to better the environment. There was also vegan food being served at the festival. There were booths set up that were giving out free books, including children books that would teach children on the importance of sustainability and taking care of the earth.

I only stayed for an hour in a half. In that time I enjoyed myself and learned a lot. I knew that sustainability has been a big deal around CSU Chico’s campus; I also know that our country as a whole has been moving towards that better of our environment. However, I did not realize how much was really being done. This was encouraging, and made me realize that I need to do a little bit more myself. The music and dancing was very entertaining, there were a lot of people there and the overall atmosphere made the experience an enjoyable one.
